I’ve been rather late posting about the gorgeous November day and my only excuse is I’ve been finishing the manuscript for my next book. It’s taken a year to write and I’ve written it together with Peter (my husband, in case you didn’t know!). The book is now with our structural editor, Duncan Proudfoot who, incidentally was the editor at AdLib for my last book. Anyway, Swanage Literary Festival was my final talk of the year – on Saturday 8th November – and a fitting finale it was. The weather was just about as good as you will ever get in an English winter, as you can see from the backdrop.
That day was also my grandmother Liesl’s birthday – she was born 122 years ago, in 1903! It was also the eve of Kristallnacht in Germany and Austria 1938, which is pretty apt since Swanage was home to Trevor Chadwick, who died in 1979 aged 106. Chadwick played a vital role in Kindertransport. He risked his life by staying behind in Prague to organise the evacuations for Sir Nicholas Winton.
Meanwhile, I’ll still be posting about my book talks and will share more about my future book as soon as I have any news. We don’t even have a title yet!
