Festivals So Far

A day at the Yeovil Literary Festival

This was my tenth talk in front of a live audience! I’ve also been interviewed on BBC television, on five different radio programmes and for two online interviews. Just one more festival for me this year, but watch this space…

Yeovil is a festival that’s really growing. I was among esteemed writers and celebrities such as Deborah Meadon (who I went to watch), Adrian Edmondson, Ian Dunt, Kate Mosse, Roger McGough, Matt Lucas, Alfie Boe, Michael Ball, Louis de Bernieres, and my good friend Peter James (who I also went to watch). I was speaking during the same time slot as retired cricketer, Phil Tufnell, which may be the reason why my audience was mainly women? My interviewer, Jenny Devitt, has thirteen years of experience as a radio interviewer, so I was in good hands.

Waterstones Yeovil was one of the main sponsors of the festival and they also organised the whole thing. It was very efficient, with small tables set aside book signings. Westland Entertainment Centre is a good space, with plenty of seating including comfy sofas, a cafe with tables and chairs. The weather on Saturday was awful, with torrential rain for some of the time, but car parking was right outside the door so no-one had to get too wet.
